Ion Implantation Enhanced Exfoliation Efficiency of V<sub>2</sub>AlC Single Crystals: Implications for Large V<sub>2</sub>CT<i><sub>z</sub></i> Nanosheet Production

MXenes are two-dimensional transition-metal carbides and nitrides with an attractive combination of physicochemical properties, gaining notable potential in many applications. Currently, MXene synthesis is mainly performed from powder precursors whose purity grain size define the quality flake 2D sheets, typically not exceeding 2–3 μm. In this work, we successfully synthesize macroscopic nanolayered V2CTz lateral dimensions larger than 25 μm a V2AlC single crystal by exploiting new strategy based on ion implantation. Ne2+ implantation single-crystal precursor applied to introduce defects structure V2AlC, which facilitates chemical etching drastically reduces time down 8 h (∼10 times lower as compared conventional precursors). The morphology exfoliated multilayers have been comprehensively studied performing detailed analyses different kinds microscopies spectroscopies. obtained flakes ideal objects study intrinsic physical properties explore their application, particular, membranes.
